How it works

A planetarium day, start to finish

We bring everything, run every session, and pack it all up. You provide the space and supervise your students; we handle the rest.

  1. 30 MIN BEFORE

    We arrive and set up

We load in the dome and projection system. Inflation and setup take 15–20 minutes, so we’re ready before the first group arrives.

  2. IN THE DOME

    A live, age-appropriate lesson

Each session lasts about 30 minutes. Our live, on-site educator uses the same software as major planetariums and adapts the lesson to the group in front of them, so every group gets an age-appropriate experience.

  3. BETWEEN GROUPS

    Groups rotate on your schedule

Each group is usually one or two classes, with up to 50 students depending on grade level. We prefer 10 minutes between groups for one group to exit and the next to enter, but five minutes is enough when necessary. Full-day bookings require a 30-minute midday break for our educator.

  4. 30 MIN AFTER

    We pack out

Teardown takes about 30 minutes. Then the gym is back to normal for whatever comes next.

The basics

What you provide

  • An indoor space—ideally 25×25 feet with 13 feet of vertical clearance. For most schools, the gym works great. Tighter rooms can work down to 20×20 feet with 12 feet of clearance, and our low-profile dome handles ceilings as low as 10 feet
  • One standard 3-prong outlet within 50 feet
  • Staff to bring groups to and from the dome and supervise students

Scheduling

We fit your school’s bell schedule

You can build the rotation yourself, or we can build it for you. Send us your start and end times, approximate group sizes, and any periods when the dome must be empty—lunch, assemblies, gym classes, or anything else. We’ll create a model schedule with available time slots, and you can assign classes however you like.

  • Full-day booking: Up to twelve 30-minute time slots, plus a required 30-minute midday break for our educator
  • Half-day booking: Up to four 30-minute time slots in either the morning or afternoon
  • Need shorter lessons? We can adapt presentations to 25 or even 20 minutes
  • We prefer 10 minutes between groups when the schedule allows, but five minutes is enough when necessary
  • Choose your school’s lessons, or let us select popular, age-appropriate lessons for each group

Not sure how to make the timing work? That’s okay. Send us your bell schedule and we’ll help build the rotation—or review your proposed schedule and confirm that it works.

Accessibility

Built to accommodate every learner

Students can remain in their wheelchairs, and we’re happy to adapt entry, exit, and seating arrangements to meet your school’s needs. Advance notice is helpful, but not required.
