A Planetarium for Your Library Program

Library programming lives and dies on one question: will people show up? A 20-foot planetarium dome in your program room answers it. Patrons don’t drift past a planetarium — they line up for it.

How the library visit works

We bring the dome to your library on a weekend and run two live 30-minute sessions for $749. Want more? A $250 upgrade takes you to a half day — up to four sessions. Setup and teardown are ours, about 30 minutes each; travel is included within 50 miles of Chicago.

Sessions hold up to 50 people, kids and adults together, so a two-session visit reaches about 100 patrons — a big number for a single afternoon of programming.

Built for summer reading (and every other theme)

Space themes cycle through summer reading constantly, and even in off-theme years, astronomy fits: it’s STEM programming, story programming, and family programming at once. We can run a session heavy on constellation stories for a mixed-age crowd, or a deeper sky tour for an older audience. Tell us who’s coming; we’ll match the session.

Libraries also use us for winter break programming, STEM weeks, and anniversary events — anywhere you want a line out the door on a Saturday.

Will it fit in the program room?

Maybe — and the gym-sized answer isn’t the only one. The main dome wants a 20×20-foot floor and a 12-foot ceiling, but our low-profile dome works with ceilings down to 10 feet, which puts a lot of program rooms and community rooms in play. Send us your room dimensions (or a photo) and we’ll tell you straight away.

The practical stuff

We’re fully insured and happy to add your library or district as additional insured at no cost. Ticketed or first-come programs both work — plenty of libraries use sign-ups to manage the 50-person sessions.

If your fall or summer calendar has a Saturday that needs an anchor event, Launch Your Mission — weekend dates are the first to go, so earlier is better.
