FAQ

Inflatable planetarium dome with the words "Galaxy on the Go" and a rocket logo, set up indoors in an elementary school's gymnasium, before one of our Chicago area school STEM assembly presentations for K-8 students.
  • For younger grades, about 50 students—in most cases, two classrooms at a time. For high schoolers, about 30 students.

  • For K–5 schools, we can serve a maximum of 600 students in a full day (a dozen 30-minute sessions of up to 50 students at a time).

For middle and high schools, group sizes are smaller—typically around 30 students—so total daily capacity is closer to 360 students.

Most schools plan for 300–500 students per day, depending on scheduling. If your school is larger than this, a two-day visit is usually the best fit.

  • We have different programming for different ages, spanning from Pre-K to 12th grade. And you don’t have to choose a single curriculum for the entire day—for example, most schools have us do different presentations for each grade.

  • Yes! We are proud to be inclusive for children with disabilities. Students can remain in wheelchairs, and our staff are happy to adjust entry/exit procedures to accommodate different needs. If you’re able, please let us know in advance so we can make your experience as smooth as possible.

  • It’s up to you. We offer dozens of curriculum options, from 360° full dome movies to interactive lessons led by our team.

For example, for pre-K and kindergarten age children, you might choose the full-dome Sesame Street film “One World, One Sky.”

For high schoolers, you may want an instructor-led lesson about planetary orbits and why we observe retrograde motion.

Before the date of your booking, you’ll be able to let us know if there’s a specific curriculum you want us to cover—or you can let us choose something age appropriate. You can learn more about our curriculums here and see our specific lessons here.

  • Typically each presentation takes 25-30 minutes, including greeting and instructions before students enter the dome. You should plan for groups to come in every half hour. For full-day bookings, we need at least one half hour break in the middle of the day.

  • Every presentation is led by a trained, background-checked Galaxy on the Go presenter. Our team includes experienced educators and performers who know how to connect with students, manage groups, and bring science to life. We don’t just press play—we engage, explain, and adapt to each age group for a truly interactive experience.

  • Our dome is 6 meters in diameter, about 20 feet. We need a space at least 25×25—like a gym, multipurpose room or large library meeting room. We also need at least 13 feet vertical clearance. (Any room with a regulation 10 foot basketball hoop with a full size backboard is going to be big enough.)

  • Yes. For safety, comfort, and optimal projection quality, the dome must be set up indoors.

  • No surprises! Our founder is a PTA parent who understands how to make this as friction-free as possible for your school.

We arrive early, set everything up, run presentations that are both educationally enriching and exciting, and then pack everything up at the end of the day.

You’ll have such a great experience, you’ll want us back every year!
